[ARCHIVED] Cedar Hill officers on Good Morning Texas Thursday

The video already has over 600,000 views on the Cedar Hill Police Department Facebook page facebook.com/cedarhilltxpolice

Credits: Starring Sgt. Larry Wise and Officer Kaleb Hazard (back seat "prisoner"), produced, directed, edited by Lt. Colin Chenault.

Our video is another example of how the Cedar Hill Police Department uses social media and, in this case, humor, as a tool to help build relationships and police with the community. Cedar Hill is all about relationships and the police department is actively engaged in that every day.

Our leadership, from the City Council on down, gave us the confidence to know that we could do something a little different, like this, to reach out to our community. We’ve been amazed at how it has caught on. It has opened up new opportunities for relationships by humanizing our officers and officers across the country; something we're happy to have been a part of.

We’ve had so many positive comments on our FB page. We’ve greatly increased the reach and that helps more people stay engaged with the police and the city. As of Tuesday afternoon the video has reached 1.7 million people via Facebook, You Tube and lots of sharing.

The video was originally filmed to debut at our recent annual awards banquet with the intent to share it with our community through social media. We wanted to share something that showed them how appreciative we are of their support and something that was a part of us. We decided to use it as a way to reward those who engage us on Facebook to help us reach our next milestone of 4000 'likes'.
