The City Council will take its first action next week on the proposed Fiscal Year 2019-2020 budget, which includes a recommendation to maintain the current property tax rate of $0.697028 for the eighth year in a row. View the notice of the 2019 proposed property tax rate.
The budget advances the City Council's vision of a premier city that retains its distinctive character, where families and businesses flourish in a safe and clean environment. Proposals address the top priorities of the community including: investing in public safety, continuing to aggressively implement the bond program approved by voters in 2017, and enhancing neighborhood integrity and engagement.
Highlights from the proposed budget include:
- 65% of expenditures dedicated to public safety services
- an additional code enforcement officer and customer service support for code complaints
- ambulance and other public safety equipment
- support for neighborhood engagement programs and events
- traffic safety and speed monitoring equipment for neighborhoods
