[ARCHIVED] MISSION CEDAR HILL CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

This weekend Mission Cedar Hill will complete their 20th year of serving neighbors in need. Volunteers from across the city will come together to help their neighbors with home repair projects, like replacing rundown fences, building ramps, or painting homes.

Mission Cedar Hill is a local organization, supported by Transformation Vision and High Pointe Baptist Church, that gathers volunteers to help meet the physical needs of Cedar Hill residents and nonprofits. For the past 3 years, the City of Cedar Hill has formally partnered with the organization to assist residents who are not able to complete needed maintenance and repairs.

“Mission Cedar Hill makes repairs for residents who need a helping hand, and they refresh the spirit of this community,” said City Manager Greg Porter. “We’re proud to partner with an organization like Mission that shares the community’s values and puts them to work.”

Since it began in 2013, Mission Cedar Hill has engaged more than 15,000 volunteers in over 40,000 hours of work. Those volunteers have served more than 150 homes in Cedar Hill. This week teams will work on a number of projects June 10 through 12 and celebrate 20 years of service with a special event on Sunday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at Virginia Weaver Park (631 Somerset Dr.).
