[ARCHIVED] Drought forces water conservation action

At the request of Dallas Water Utilities (DWU), the source of Cedar Hill's water, our City is taking action to help achieve at least a 5% reduction in water usage. Voluntary, Stage 1 water conservation includes communication efforts to inform residents and encourage reduction in landscape watering by residents and businesses.
As of Dec. 12, water customers who reside or operate a business with an EVEN numbered address are to water only on Tuesdays and Fridays, but not between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm.
Water customers who reside or operate a business with and ODD numbered address are requested to water only on Mondays and Thursdays, but not between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm.
Note that Cedar Hill's restrictions are voluntary, while some other communities are implementing mandatory cutbacks.
City departments are looking at ways they can achieve reductions in their water consumption.
The request to voluntarily reduce consumption and limit landscape watering is a result of the ongoing drought, which is predicted to extend beyond this winter, and scheduled treatment plant repairs/construction by DWU.

If the City's consumption is not substantially reduced, other options will be considered.
