The Zula B. Wylie Public Library
Ask a Librarian
Get answers to factual questions, research help, web sources and information about library collections, databases, services, and the online catalog via email or phone. Fill out the Ask a Question form with your question and someone will respond to you within 24 hours. You are also welcome to call the library during business hours at (972) 291-7323.
Free WiFi
Free wireless internet access is available anywhere in the library building. Bring your wireless-ready laptop or other portable device.
Community Services
The Library offers the following services: meeting room, study room, proctoring, printing and copying, fax services, and educational programs.
Computers
Computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office products are provided for the public, no library card is necessary. Black and white, as well as color printing, is offered for a small fee. Computer Tutoring & Classes
Library users are welcome to schedule one-on-one appointments for individual assistance with basic questions on using the computer. Basic computer classes are held on selected Tuesday evenings and generally every Wednesday afternoon. Call 972-291-7323, ext. 1328 for more information.
Community Garden
Participation in the Cedar Hill Community Garden project is open to the public on a first come, first serve basis. Visit the Community Garden page to learn more about the garden and register for a plot. Copy Machine
A coin-operated copier is provided for public use. Standard black and white 8 1/2 by 11 and 11 by 14-inch copies can be made for a small fee.
Databases
Your virtual library
of reliable information that is available in the library or from home and office. Your library card provides you access to over 80 databases with full-text magazines and newspaper articles, dictionaries and encyclopedias, financial investment tools, family history records, medical research, and practice tests along with homework help for students and ebooks. All of these resources can be accessed through the Library's research databases.
Fax Service
Faxes are free at the Zula B. Wylie Public Library.
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows Zula B. Wylie Library card holders, who are Cedar Hill residents, access to materials which are not available from the Library's collection.
Library Cards
Zula B. Wylie Public Library cards are free to anyone who lives in the State of Texas.
Meeting Rooms
The library provides a meeting room that can be reserved by non-profit organizations in the community. Please email diane.philip@cedarhilltx.com or call (972) 291-7323, ext 1311.
Online Accounts
You may access your own library account via the internet, you will need your library card number. You can see what you have checked out, due dates, holds you have placed and even renew items.
Research Tools
Online sources and services, periodicals, and research guides will help you with your research. Staff at the Zula B. Wylie Library are available to assist with research on any topic by email, by phone, or in person.
Texshare Card Program
Allows registered users to borrow materials directly from many public and academic libraries in the DFW area and in other Texas locations. Certain restrictions may apply.
Configuring Personal Equipment
Since all computers are different, it is not possible for the library staff to troubleshoot or configure your equipment. If you have problems connecting to the CCH-PUBLIC network, check your network and security settings. If you continue to have problems, refer to your manual or contact the manufacturer.
Security of Personal Information on Connected Devices
Using virus protection, personal firewall, and other measures to protect the information on your laptop is highly recommended.

For specific questions about your hardware or software, contact the manufacturer. The Zula B. Wylie Library Internet and Electronic Information Access Policy (PDF) must be strictly observed (check with your librarian for a printed copy).
